Promoting the release of The Warp: Cephisso VR demo

When I learned that Infinite Form was preparing to release its first at home VR demo, The Warp: Cephisso, I saw a strong opportunity to raise its visibility. The developers were keen for the launch to be successful but didn’t yet have a clear promotional plan. As a new member of the team I approached this sensitively, checked in with the developers and reassured them that my aim was simply to support their work. Once aligned, I helped shape a launch strategy that would give the demo the best chance of gaining traction.

Press and outreach

The development team had begun preparing a press kit, including images, videos, and a draft press release. I worked with them to refine the release so it met industry expectations and presented the demo confidently. Once everything was final, I distributed it through established channels including EIN Presswire and PR Newswire.

I also contacted journalists at major VR publications, including Upload VR. This resulted in coverage and a post on Upload VR’s social channels, reaching their global audience of more than 180,000 followers. The lead developer had also created an initial list of YouTubers and VR creators they hoped would cover the game. I expanded this list with additional relevant influencers and potential testers. The developers carried out the outreach and the demo was picked up internationally by a range of content creators.

Community partnership and charity support

At the same time, The Benjamin Foundation, a local Norwich charity, was hosting a Halloween fundraising livestream. I arranged for them to borrow a VR headset and play The Warp: Cephisso live on stream. In return, Infinite Form was credited as a main supporter throughout the broadcast. This strengthened our relationship with the charity and increased local visibility for the demo.

Impact

The demo was shared by creators across the VR community and generated meaningful feedback that helped guide the next phase of development. Over 2700 people have since wishlisted the full game to their Steam account.

Just as importantly, this project helped build trust between myself and the development team. As someone new to the company, demonstrating that I was invested in their work and could deliver on my commitments showed them they had a marketing partner who genuinely cared about their success.
